After years and years of suggestions given to customers on what to visit when you arrive at the hotel, we wanted to bring back some of the most appreciated destinations.

“Travel Notes” because they are trips of one day, suggested to our customers. They should be taken as starting points for living a territory through places, traditions, culture and flavors.

Famous in hotel are the papers that I prepare to suggest that travel ideas and I could verify the satisfaction of guests. Much better than any or brochure, there is no better map than those I prepare and recommend to customers!

The first itinerary is the city of Bassano del Grappa.

BASSANO DEL GRAPPA AND SURROUNDING

Journey time: 1h 11’ to go and 1h 52’ return.

Path: Highway (not necessary)

Distance: 83 km to go and 83 km in the return leg.

Starting from Hotel Bareta take the SR11 direction Vicenza. Enter in Soave on the highway A4 direction Venice and after “Vicenza Est” exit, always in the highway take the direction Valdastico “Piovene Roccette”. The exit to take is DUEVILLE. Continue towards BREGANZE, famous for its SWEET typical wine: the TORCOLATO. The grape is VESPAIOLO, name also of the typical local wine. If you are in the area for lunchtime, in SANDRIGO a small city near Breganze is famous for the most known and typical plate of Vicenza: the BACCALA’ ALLA VICENTINA. We recommend the tasting menu at the restaurant DA PALMERINO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5kaNjukPPQ

The destination is Bassano del Grappa, a beautiful walled city, famous for its WOODEN BRIDGE designed by Palladio. (See our section Territory). The area has an important artistic ceramics districts. If you visit those areas in spring taste the most famous agricultural product of the area: the WHITE ASPARAGUS. Bassano is also famous as a furniture district.

A few kilometers far another splendid walled city: Marostica. You can have a walk up to the castle, from which you will enjoy a fantastic view. The city is famous for its square checkerboard and once a year in September they play chess with human figures. (You see our events section).

Return is easy even on normal road. The advice is to visit Vicenza and its beautiful Palladian Basilica. If you want you can also visit a lot of Palladian villas around the city.

The final destination before returning is the beautiful medieval town of Soave. Soave is a small village only 7 km from the hotel, surrounded by high walls and a beautiful CASTLE to visit inside.

I thought to make you stop at the end of the day because there are many restaurants in the area where you can try typical dishes and our local pride: WINE SOAVE, produced with Garganega grape. If you have still free time a visit to a wineyard for a WINE TASTING of local wine would be perfect.

We reached the end of a busy day full of emotion, places and flavors. You now need a  relaxing herbal tea and a good bed.
