Put together passion for animals, choice of outdoor life, COURAGE and add a pinch of MADNESS and you’re done! This is the recipe to describe an association for the protection of another forgotten animal breed of the territory.

SHEEP “BROGNA DELLA LESSINIA”

The sheep brogna is the only native breed of mountains of Verona which in the past played a key role in the economy of Verona. During the medieval times the family “Scaligeri” that ruled the territory of Verona and surroundings build many MALGHE in the mountains. The farms produced PRECIOUS WOOL and started a real business. The Veronese wool, in medieval times, was already famous and popular. Until 1500 the products made from the wool of local sheep WAS EXPORTED ALSO IN GREAT BRITAIN.

Over the years it decreases the interest in this breed of sheep so important in the past and it risked the extinction.

Only in 2012 an Association was founded for the protection of the species with an ambitious and important purpose:

“promote the development of products derived from this animal, to allow farmers to stay in LESSINIA”.

The way chosen was marry the organic farming philosophy with high level quality products.

A sheep and a triple attitude of excellence: milk, meat, wool.

MANY AND VARIOUS ARE THE ACTIVITIES ORGANIZED BY THE ASSOCIATION TO MAKE KNOWN TO ALL THE QUALITY OF THIS SEEP.

You can discover a territory in different ways, eating and tasting food excellence of the territory, walking through beautiful landscapes and reading history and culture of a territory. And this is the effort we are trying to do!!!
