Endangered farm animal breeds: La Grisa

Love for a territory means also COURAGE. Courage to not forget, to bring forward his own idea, a wish.

Means SAY NO to chemicals, fast farms or compromise at the expense of product quality.

SAY NO TO AGRICULTURE EVER INDUSTRY. MARRY SUSTAINABLE AGRICOLTURE FARMING.

These are the ingredients that combine three friends and an idea:

KEEP BREEDS ALIVE THAT OTHERWISE SHOULD BE LOST

This is the story we want to tell you now.

THE GRISA is a breed of hen of a strain extinct in Lessinia: the Barred Plymouth Rock.

Plymouth Rock, or the Grisa (the name refers to the color of the plumage) is a breed of US origin. It takes its name from the site of Plymouth Rock, where it is supposed, the first the European settlers landed on board of the “Mayflower”

It is a medium-weight chicken, strong, very good producer of meat and high quality eggs.

There were many in the farmyards in Lessinia courtyards in the last century. Then, according to legend, the retreating German soldiers at the end of World War II, they took away all breeding roosters.

The fact is that the hen “Grisa Lessinia” had gone missing.

Now, thanks to the courage of three friends, with hard work they created the “Le Bellette” on the hills of Mezzane di Sotto. A farm with a thousand heads of this breed, which follows RULES strict organic farming. All this to achieve a product of excellence.

SUSTEINABLE FARMING, BREEDING AT SLOW GROWTH TO GET TO A PRODUCTION OF EXCELLENCE

The result of this work is used in many tables of local restaurants that have realized the importance of a healthy and natural product and have it then exalted with their recipes.

A CHAIN OF QUALITY FROM BREEDING THAT FINALLY ENDS ON THE PLATES OF VISITORS OF OUR TERRITORY!
